2017 Generation Google Scholars: I was awarded a scholarship of US$10,000 by Google as a
Generation Google Scholar. On June 2017, we were invited for a retreat at Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California. We were housed at Hyatt Regency, Santa Clara and were opportuned to meet Google engineers and other amazing staff. I was also privileged to discuss my personal project on an agent-based model designed to study biological networks and interactions. See

SURIP Program at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey, PA, USA: I researched on the effect of enhanced REDD1 (Regulated in Development and DNA Damage response 1) expression due to diabetes-induced hyperglycemia on liver autophagy. Essentially, I identify autophagy markers in hepatocytes due to diabetes-induced hyperglycemia, comparing proteins that are expressed (with special interest to REDD1) on wild type mice against REDD1 knockout mice. Trained IMO Contestants in Uganda for the 57th IMO Competition: During the summer of 2016, I trained Ugandan students who were to represent their country in Hong Kong, on July 9, 2016, for the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). We conducted the training at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda - one of the oldest and largest institutions in East Africa. This training program was organized by Minerva Schools and the Ugandan Mathematical Society (UMS). See

Internship at LCD Lab, UC Berkeley: I did an internship at LCD (Language and Cognitive Development) Lab at University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley). I designed a web application that was used to carry experiment on children on how our minds connect spatial associations to feelings; the web application would also helps us determine if this trait is "learned" or "innate".
